Fainzilberi Zebra Maison Reef 4 - 5 cm £10.00

The BB Zebra, or Chilumba Zebra is found along the northeast coast of Malawi, from Ngara to Chirwa Island. Specimens closely resembling M. sp. ''Zebra Chilumba'' and occuring either South or East of this stretch are classified as M. fainzilberi. Males claim a cave among the rocks, which is fiercely guarded against intruders. Spawning takes place within this cave, in seclusion. Brooding females take cover among holes in the rocks. The population found at Luwino Reef is the one most commonly exported for the aquarium hobby and is quite popular due to is distinctive, bright yellow chin.

M. aurora has a relative high body with flattened sides. The profile of the head looks like Pseudotropheus tropheops species, but less steep. The male body and the upper part of the head are light blue or violet from color. Depending on the mood, 7 or 8 vertical bars are visible . Throuat and front part of the chest have a gold brown color. Females and juveniles are common grey/brown with the same vertical barring.

Pseudotropheus flavus 4 - 5 cm £7.00 each or 4 for £26.00 or you could have 10 of any the £7.00 fish for Just £65.00 This is a great offer and it will not be on for long.

Due to the aggression level it's best to keep one male with at least three females. Males are yellow and black striped fish. Females are brown with stripes. This mbuna also grows long and slender. Because of their smaller size they have been grouped among the Pseudotropheus dwarf species.

Cynotilapia Zebroides (afra) Cobwe 4-5 cm £7.00 each or 4 for £26.00 or you could have 10 of any the £7.00 fish for Just £65.00 This is a great offer and it will not be on for long.

This is a dwarf mbuna from Cobue, Mozambique. Different afras from different locations look quite different from each other. The cobue male is quite colorful with yellow/ornage stripes on a blue-ish body. Females tend to be less colorful, brown body with a yellow edge on their dorsal fin.

Pseudotropheus elongatus "Mpamga" F1 4-5 cm £7.00 each or 4 for £26.00 or you could have 10 of any the £7.00 fish for Just £65.00 This is a great offer and it will not be on for long.

Coloured males have a blue vertical barring with yellow markings in the caudal and dorsal fins. Females are more brownish. As the name suggests it has an elongated body-shape. Species from the elongatus-complex guards their territory with great intense and could be rather aggressive.

Labidochromis chisumulae chizumulu F1 4-5 cm £7.00 each or 4 for £26.00 or you could have 10 of any the £7.00 fish for Just £65.00 This is a great offer and it will not be on for long.

Labidochromis chisumulae is an attractive little mbuna that should be kept by everyone at least once. It is often overshadowed by its more popular and well known cousin the “electric yellow” Labidochromis caeruleus. This is a shame because this Rift Lake jewel is one of the few Malawi mbuna that can be successfully maintained in smaller aquaria.

Cynotilapia afra chewere F1 4-5 cm £7.00 each or 4 for £26.00 or you could have 10 of any the £7.00 fish for Just £65.00 This is a great offer and it will not be on for long.

Cynotilapia afra, is a freshwater fish of the cichlid family. The genus name roughly translates as dogtooth cichlid which describes the sharp, conical unicuspid teeth unique to this genus within the Lake Malawi flock. The species afra is endemic to Lake Malawi and is found in rocky habitats throughout the lake. It prefers a pH range of 7.5–8.5 and a temperature range of 23–27 °C.

Pseudotropheus demasoni F1 4-5 cm £7.00 each or 4 for £26.00 or you could have 10 of any the £7.00 fish for Just £65.00 This is a great offer and it will not be on for long.

P. demasoni is one the newest discoveries coming out of Lake Malawi, being identified and described by Ad Konings in 1994. And in 1999, P. demasoni was an ACA Class Winner. It has enjoyed a great deal of popularity (although still not yet very abundant), I believe, because of its sharp colors and crisp lines. It is similar in appearance to Pseudotropheus minutus, only that the latter's lines are less distinct and stop before the tail fin.

Metriaclima sp. Elongatus "Chailosi" F1 4-5 cm £7.00 each or 4 for £26.00 or you could have 10 of any the £7.00 fish for Just £65.00 This is a great offer and it will not be on for long.

Diet: Many cichlids specialize in eating one type of food; notwithstanding, some of these specialized
feeders are flexible and can be opportunistic feeders.

Temperament: This describes the overall demeanor of a cichlid toward other tankmates that
are of a different species. Consider that there is variability in temperament due to various factors,
  including
aquarium size, tankmates of similar appearance, stocking levels, and order of introduction.
There may even be some variability among individual specimens.

Labidochromis hongi super red 4-5 cm £7.00 each or 4 for £26.00 or you could have 10 of any the £7.00 fish for Just £65.00 This is a great offer and it will not be on for long.

Males are very territorial and will defend their territory fiercely. They have a light blue body with dark, vertical bars. The bars continue onto the upper lip. Their dorsal fins can be yellow to orange. Subdominant males and females are brown purple. Lab. sp. "Hongi Island" is synonymous with Lab. sp. "Kimpuma". The "Super Red Top Kimpuma" is a line bred "Hongi Island", selected for a more distinct orangy-red blaze.

Metriaclima sp. Kingsizei lupingu Blue F1 4-5 cm £7.00 each or 4 for £26.00 or you could have 10 of any the £7.00 fish for Just £65.00 This is a great offer and it will not be on for long.

Kingsizei is a dwarf Mbuna. The male is about 3.5 - 4 inches at the most, while the females are slightly smaller (3-3.5). The male is colored light blue with five vertical, dark blue bars, but when he is angry the lower part of its body might turn black. The females are not that beautiful. They maintain the color of the juveniles: silver-grey. Occasionally (when having territorial arguments) even females can intensify their color (bars become visible, lower part of the body turns dark) so much so that they look like "grey males". They look best when you have a large community of females (10 or more) with some males (2-3).

Pseudotropheus saulosi 4-5 cm £7.00 each or 4 for £26.00 or you could have 10 of any the £7.00 fish for Just £65.00 This is a great offer and it will not be on for long.

Pseudotropheus saulosi is classified as a dwarf-mbuna from Lake Malawi. It was discovered by Ad Konings in 1989 while exploring along a reef that the locals called ‘Taiwan’. It was discovered by accident as Konings was scuba diving and holding onto the reef at 7 meters. He was waiting for his ears to clear so he could descend further on his exploration. It was here, as he struggled against a stiff current, that he noticed large groups of yellow fish swimming against the current. When he described it as Pseudotropheus saulosi, he named it after one of the local guides who helped him discover it – Saulos Mwale.

Description: The saulosi is considered a dwarf mbuna because it reaches a size of only 3-4 inches. Males are blue with black vertical bars, and females are a beautiful, deep yellow. Fry are born yellow and, as they near adulthood, will begin to show adult female and male colors.

In the wild: Along Taiwan reef, Ps. saulosi can be found at depths of 7-15 meters. Large schools roam the rocky areas of the reef, scavenging for food among the algae growing on the rocks. These schools contain only yellow fish. However, not all of them are females, there may also be males that have kept the female colors. Males that display the full blue coloration are those that have a territory claimed, and they seem rare when compared to the quantities of yellow schools.

In the aquarium: Because Ps. saulosi is a dwarf mbuna it can be kept in tanks that are smaller than most required for mbuna. However, they can still be very territorial, and need a lot of swimming space. Depending on the size of the tank, you may only have one ‘dominant’ male who achieves the brilliant blue color.  Other males may be a pale blue with bars visible, but the depth of color may change with the situation. If you have younger males in a tank with a dominant male, the younger ones will keep the female colors and blend in with the females. However, the dominant male will not be fooled. He will still chase the young males much harder than any of the females. They are best kept in groups of 6 or more, allowing the dominant male to spread out his aggression against several individuals. They should be kept in tanks of 55 gallons or larger.

Breeding:  Pseudotropheus saulosi is a maternal mouthbrooder. The male will select a breeding site, it will usually be on the sandy bottom. He may, or may not, dig a pit in the sand down to the aquarium bottom. This pit may be up against a large rock, or it may not. They don’t seem too finicky. Once his breeding site is picked out, and a female is ready to spawn, he will display by shaking in front of the female. (Note if a male is shaking in the same way in front of another male, he is displaying his dominance. The subdominant male will clamp his fins and lose his color as a sign of submission.) After displaying for the female, he will attempt to lead her back to his spawning site by swimming away, but shaking his tail in a manner only seen during spawning. Once the spawn is complete, the female will hold the eggs in her mouth until the fry are able to swim and forage for themselves. This is usually 13-18 days. The female will take food into her mouth during the brooding cycle, however, it may be to feed her fry as much as it is to feed herself. Brood sizes will usually be less than 20 fry, and 10-15 is most common.

Feeding:  Ps. saulosi should be fed a spirulina based diet. They will graze on algae growing on rocks and glass, but not enough for algae control. When I have to put my hand in my tank, they don’t hesitate to see if my hand or arm has anything good to eat on it. Their teeth are made for scraping algae, so it feels like coarse sand paper when they nibble. The occasional treats of brine shrimp flakes and/or cichlid flakes is acceptable, however, avoid pellets of any type. A sprig of Romaine lettuce is another good food to add for variety.

Other care tips:  Ps. saulosi should be kept with other mbuna approximately their size.  Labidochromis species make good tank mates. Larger, more aggressive, mbuna species should be avoided, as well as any species that has the blue or yellow colorings, if stocking saulosiin your tank. □ The photo is the change the male goes from born to adult.

is found in and around Mbamba Bay in Lake Malawi, particularly in the southern area of the bay. Although the males of this species are spectacularly coloured, in my experience they are less popular than other species of Labidochromis, most notably the Lab. caeruleus, "Hongi", and "Perlmutt".

This species of Labidochromis tends to be much more aggressive and active then Labidochromis caeruleus(yellow labs), and have been described as similar in temperament to M. estherae (Red Zebra's).

Pseudotropheus spec. acei white tail Ngara F1 4-5 cm 7.00 or 4 for £26.00 or you could have 10 of any the £7.00 fish for Just £65.00 This is a great offer and it will not be on for long.

Originally discovered in 1922 by REGAN, It prefers the sandy and rock filled shoreline where sunken logs are easily accessed. This species has developed the advantage of being able to harvest algae from submerged logs and roots. They are equipped with typical Gephyrochromid cuspid-like teeth that are flat for removing epixlyic or epilithic algae from wood. In the lake, schools of 30-50 individuals surrounding a large log are not uncommon, however in the rocky areas; schools usually consist of 3-10 individuals.

Pseudotropheus spec. Red top Ndumbi F1 4-5 cm £10.00

Males of this species are characterised by a rusty, reddish patch on the head. It is sympatric with P. sp. "Perspicax Yellow Breast" at Pombo Reef. The geographical variant at Ndumbi Reef is the one exported for the aquarium hobby. Multiple sources document a lack of aggression in the wild; however, this does not seem to be the case in captivity. In the wild, they feed by nibbling from the algal mat in a manner similar to Labidochromis spp.

The Electric Blue Johanni Melanochromis johannii (previously Pseudotropheus johannii) is a real beauty that offers pizzazz to the African cichlid aquarium. The coloring of both the male and female is very appealing, and they almost look like two separate species. The male has a brilliant blue body with darker blue striping, but the dark colors "bleed" onto the lighter blue creating a checkerboard effect. The female and juveniles are a bright yellow-orange.

F1 Pseudotropheus Yellow Tail Acei Cichlid 4 - 5 cm or 4 for £26.00 or you could have 10 of any the £7.00 fish for Just £65.00 This is a great offer and it will not be on for long.

Acei like most mbunas have a very long intestine so they can live off a few bites of algae a day. These fish are at high risk for Malawi bloat. Bloat is caused by a protozoan that multiplies when a fish is under stress or consuming an improper diet. The protozoans multiply enough that they cause blockages in the intestines, so neither food nor gases can pass, causing them to become bloated. The bloat eventually damages their liver, swim bladder, and kidneys so much that they die in 24–78 hours. Acei have bicuspid teeth like the rest of the Pseudotropheus genus.

F1 Labidochromis caeruleus Yellow lab. 4 - 5 cm 4 for £26.00 or you could have 10 of any the £7.00 fish for Just £65.00 This is a great offer and it will not be on for long.

Electric yellows are peaceful compared to most other African cichlids. Despite this, like all cichlids from Lake Malawi, they are best kept in specialist cichlid aquariums with other Mbuna. As with most cichlids, electric yellows should not be kept with freshwater community aquarium species such as Zebra Danios or Neon Tetras, they may nip the finnage of other peaceful species, and are not recommended for freshwater community aquariums because of the differences in the natural habitats between African Lake cichlids and other fish species. This fish is more suited to an African lake cichlid community consisting of other Malawi species. In an aquarium setting, their natural habitat of rocks and caves should be emulated with a sandy substrate. Their diet should consist mostly of prepared cichlid pellets or flakes, supplemented with foods like krill, bloodworms, brineshrimp, and Spirulina flakes. Refrain from feeding these cichlids feeder goldfish, as they are likely carrying diseases that will cause harm to your cichlids.

Metriaclima spec.Msobo Magunga F1 4-5 cm £10.00 or 4 for £38.00

M. "Msobo" is another zebra cichlid. Males have a blue/black base color with light blue bars and spots against the dorsal fin. Females are orange/yellow. This species is found in the higher areas of the lake . It feeds on algae and plankton. When hungry it will also eat the plants in your tank. Males dig holes against the rocks and will protect them at all cost.
